Located in the grounds of Colebrooke Park, the four acre walled kitchen garden has been producing food for over two hundred years.
The glasshouse was designed and built by Richard Turner (1798-1881) who is believed to be the most important iron-work designer in Ireland’s history. His his work has international importance and examples include the Palm House at Kew gardens; the glasshouse in the Winter Gardens in Regent’s Park; Lime Street Station, Liverpool and the Curvilinear Range at the National Botanic Gardens at Glasnevin, Dublin.
The walled garden has been put into a charitable trust, the Colebrooke Garden Trust, in order to help protect this historical garden and associated structures, to restore it to its former glory and provide a place for the public to learn and appreciate its uniqueness and beauty.
